Why OFDA2000?

Clean Snippet Mode

Also known as 70mm Glass Slide Mode.

 

Maximum accuracy and repeatability.  More fibres measured means statistically higher accuracy.

 

The best method for accurate, repeatable high speed diameter measurement.


Non-greasy samples are cut into 2mm long snippets with the guillotine before being distributed onto a 70mmx70mm glass slide with the Automatic Spreader.  This slide is the placed into the OFDA for measurement.

Fibreglass slide mode

Designed for use with greasy fibres in shearing sheds.

 

Measures up to 1000 mid side sheep samples per day.

 

Can be used with any fibres with minimal preparation required.

 

Fibreglass slide measurements give the same data as clean snippet mode plus staple length and diameter along the staple for information about how micron is changing throughout the year.

The OFDA2000 has undergone a full mechanical redesign to make it more reliable and compact. This saves on shipping costs and makes the portable unit much easier to transport.

The new  lightweight OFDA2000 portable is one third the  size of the old model.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, both modes, clean snippet and fibreglass slide, work with both configurations, benchtop and portable OFDA’s.

  • There are very few costs to running an OFDA.  Keeping the instrument clean and basic services are recommended, but there are no major consumables or running costs.

  • Yes, contact us for instructions to send up to 6 samples to us.  We will measure them using relevant instruments and methods and provide you with a free report on the results obtained with the OFDA technology.
